Attractions in Ibiza

There are many attractions and sights in Ibiza. The best part is, of course, great scenery, beaches and rustic villages. It is not without reason why photographers from virtually the world, and at least Europe, flock to Ibiza to take the best outdoor pictures! Below you will find a selection of other attractions and sights in Ibiza.

Columbus egg in Sant Antoni

A small landmark in the “youth city” of Sant Antoni is the egg in memory of Columbus. The reason that the statue you find in the harbor is just an egg stems from Columbus being told that finding a western sea route to India was impossible. As impossible as getting an egg to stand “upright”.

Columbus should then have cut a small notch on the underside of the egg before placing it on the table. And the money for the expedition was given! Inside the “egg monument” you see a model of Columbus’ ship Santa Maria.

Hippie market Es Canar

This market in Las Dalias at Santa Eularia east of Ibiza is organized on Wednesdays during the summer season. Opening hours are usually from 10am to 7pm.

The market is legendary, not least because the hippies really came to Ibiza and many stayed here. Maybe you hit the real ones on the market?

Café del Mar

We may be talking about the world’s most famous bar when we mention Café del Mar. Known for its chill-out music and its sunsets best enjoyed with a drink in hand. Café del Mar is located in Sant Antoni on the west coast of Ibiza. The bar saw the light of day on June 20, 1980 and the architect behind it was Lluis Güell.

The bar released its first official CD in 1994 and at least 15 other issues were added at the time of writing.

Santa Maria d’Eivissa

This 13th century cathedral can be found in the city of Ibiza, more specifically in the old part. The view from here is exquisite and well worth the trip up!

Es Vedra

This is a “mysterious” cliff located on the southwest coast of Ibiza. Not only is it said that this is where Homer’s sirens came from, but also that Es Vedra is the pinnacle of the lost Atlantis.

According to the locals, you should want something as soon as you see Es Vedra show up, and the desire should be fulfilled. However, we do not think that Ibiza’s hippies think Es Vedra is a landing place for UFOs.

Bar Anita

Bar Anita in San Carlos is a historic place. Not a few artists have drunk their drinks, played their songs and got money here. Stop in for a scent of bygone days!,

Cova de Can Marçà

The largest naturally made caves in Ibiza are Cova de Can Marçà. These can be found at Puerto de San Miguel. Every hour there are guided tours and the caves with stalactites and stalagmites are very popular with the island’s tourists.

Tourist in Ibiza

We must not underestimate that very many, and then young people, come to Ibiza and the city of Sant Antoni for the pleasures of nightlife. And from our own youth we must admit that the likes of clubs and discos we have never seen. And even those of us who today have no other intentions than to do the dance floor unsafe, you must visit the legendary Café del Mar. Not many bars have managed to make themselves legendary and become a tourist attraction in their own right.

Ibiza Attractions

Large parts of Ibiza are registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Several villages on the island have a rustic beauty that we smooth ice must be preserved for all time. It is not without reason that photographers and film people use Ibiza as the backdrop for their work.

There are several places where you can experience nature’s own wonders in Ibiza. And then we do not think of great beaches in this round. Cova De Can Marca at Sant Miquel is a system of caves that have been used by smugglers and robbers from time immemorial. We also mention the island of Es Vedra which has a number of legends and myths linked to its existence. And it is reportedly also a landing place for UFOs.

The beaches of Ibiza

The bathing temperature is usually from June to October in Ibiza. And even in high season you will find another beach that is perfect for you. There are more than 80 beautiful beaches scattered around Ibiza. It is almost impossible to rank these, as they are as varied as the tourists who come here. In some places, such as the town of San Antoni west of the island, you can take ferries to small islands with lovely beaches.

One of the most famous beaches is Playa D’en Bossa beach, located just outside Ibiza Town. It is perhaps the longest beach on the island and for you to understand the size we can mention that it has about 50 beach bars! The most famous beach bar, and which must only be visited for the youth, is called Bora Bora Ibiza club.

If you live on the west side of Ibiza and travel with children, you might want to drop the party lions that come to the beach during the day? Then a tip is to visit little Cala Gracio. It is walking distance from town but quiet and child friendly. Sunbeds and umbrellas can be rented for a reasonable amount of euros. You will also find a decent restaurant nearby if you get hungry. Close to Cala Gracio you can find several secluded beaches, eg. little Gracionetta.

Cala Salada is the name of a beach north of Sant Antoni that residents also pilgrimage to. Whether with cars, ferries or own Yachts. Restaurants and bars are available by the beach.

Cala D’hort is the name of a 200 meter long beach to the southwest of Ibiza. The beach also has a lovely seafood restaurant where you can definitely enjoy a better lunch. Included are views from the beach area to the islands of Es Vedra and Es Vedranell.

Finally, we want to mention the Cala de Boix which is located on the northeast coast of Ibiza. This beach is special because it is the only real beach with black sand.
